On February 6, 2017, she became the first British monarch to celebrate a sapphire jubilee, marking 65 years on the throne.

She is also the longest-reigning female monarch in world history, and is the current longest-reigning monarch in the world following the October 2016 death of Bhumibol Adulyadej (also known as Rama IX), who was the King of Thailand.
