Each 1885-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coin available here comes to you in Mint State 64 condition. The PCGS assigns this grade to coins with average mint luster for the strike and date. It is possible the coins will show several small contact marks in groups, with the potential for one or two heavier marks. It is also possible for the coins to show one or two smaller patches of hairlines.
The 1885-CC Morgan Dollar is a unique specimen within the already limited range of Carson City Morgan Silver Dollars. With just 228,000 coins issued originally, it has the lowest mintage of any date among the 13 from Carson City. Additionally, the 1885 date mark was the last issue before a three-year hiatus in coining at the Carson City Mint.
Obverse visuals on 1885-CC Morgan Silver Dollars include a depiction of Lady Liberty. This left-profile relief from George T. Morgan shows Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap on her head with a laurel wreath and coronet crown atop her head as well. There are 13 stars on this field, as well as a date mark.
Reverse design elements on the 1885-CC Morgan Dollar include George T. Morgan’s version of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This design shows the eagle without the US national shield. The bird is in front-facing relief with its wings spread as its talons clutch the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
