Following the success of its Lunar Dragon Gold Bar, PAMP (Produit Artistiques Metaux Precieux) Suisse of Switzerland released this 100 Gram Lunar Snake Gold Bar as the second installment of its Lunar Calendar collection. Its design pays homage to 2013’s status as the “Year of the Snake,” a year characterized by unexpected changes and surprises.

Each newly minted bar has been struck from 100 grams of the purest .9999 fine gold and has been kept sealed in a decorative red plastic packet. The packet features Asian inspired accents on each corner as well as the bar’s mint, mintage year, collection and country of origin. Also sealed inside the packet is the bar’s corresponding Assay, which has been provided for verification purposes.

The artwork featured on the front and back of the bar depicts 2013’s zodiac mascot, casually coiled around a stone pillar. In keeping with PAMP Suisse’s reputation for fine craftsmanship, great care has been taken to accurately render every detail of this reptilian predator from the texture of its scales to the shadings of its skin pattern. Appearing directly beneath the snake is its name in Chinese, “She.”

To give the illusion of a three dimensional image, the back of the bar reveals the reverse image of the original artwork. Engraved in between the snake’s first two coils are the PAMP Suisse logo along with the bar’s weight and purity. At the very bottom of the pillar by the snake’s tail is the bar’s seal of authenticity with the words, “Essayeur Fonduer.”
